Frequently Asked Questions
While phone calls asking these kind of questions are becoming less frequent, we know how helpful online research is—especially if you're new to owning a wood burner or new to the experience of buying wood to burn. We truly believe there’s no such thing as a silly question! If you're wondering about something, chances are someone else is too. We’ve answered some of the most common questions below, but if you need any extra advice, feel free to get in touch here and our team will get back to you right away.

How long will a 1.2 cubic meter bag of firewood last?
This is our most frequently asked question! It depends on how often you light your fire, but for an average household lighting a wood burner on evenings and weekends through autumn and winter, a 1.2 m³ bag typically lasts between 6 to 10 weeks. If you burn wood daily as your main heating source, you may go through a bag in 3 to 4 weeks.
What types of firewood do you supply? Do you supply Ash?
We supply both high-quality hardwood and softwood logs. While many people think Ash is the gold standard, there are actually several hardwoods (like Oak, Beech, and Hornbeam) that burn just as hot, if not longer! Softwoods are also fantastic for starting fires or for quick, high-heat warmth in fire pits. All of our wood is kiln-dried and "Ready to Burn" certified for maximum efficiency.
Why do you sell firewood by volume (cubic meters) rather than by weight?
Firewood should always be bought by volume, not weight! Damp wood weighs significantly more than properly dried wood because of water content. Selling by volume ensures you are paying for actual wood fuel—not trapped moisture—giving you a fair, consistent amount of dry, high-heat burning logs every time.
How big is a 1.2 cubic meter bag, and how much wood is in it?
It can be hard to picture 1.2 m³! A standard builder's dumpy bag is roughly 0.7 to 0.8 cubic meters. Our 1.2 m³ bulk bag is noticeably larger—it holds about 40–50% more logs than a standard dumpy bag, giving you plenty of fuel stacked loosely but neatly inside.

Kiln-dried firewood is logs dried in a heated kiln to drop the moisture level below 20%. The dried wood burns hotter, lasts longer, produces less smoke, and prevents harmful creosote buildup inside your wood burner flue compared to unseasoned damp wood. If you want to know more about dried wood vs. unseasoned wood, see our page here which goes into more detail.
How to store seasoned firewood properly in the UK climate?
Store seasoned firewood in a log store raised slightly off the damp ground, covered at the top to shield from rain, but with open, ventilated sides to allow air circulation to keep logs dry throughout the UK winter.
